The bookmark has a very convenient design whereby a wooden rod is inserted in the hollow of the book cover spine and the dolls are seated on the spine, while silk ribbons cam mark several required pages. This bookmark will not only adorn a book, but can also embellish a standard date-book or a photo album giving them a fascinating look.
The costume of a peasant consisted of a loose linen shirt reaching down to knees and a pair of trousers. The shirt was cut collarless round a neck and had a straight slit at the front, buttoned or laced. The lap, sleeves and collar were bordered with a red cord or embroidered band to protect a wearer from evil spirits. Shirts were not tucked into trousers, but were worn over them. Young men usually wore a belt round their waists, while elderly men wore their belts under their tummies to stress their portliness. Peasants liked to wear lapti bast shoes – not so much for being needy as because that light and hygienic footwear was extremely comfortable. Shoes were worn over onuchi puttees worn over trousers to cover three fourths of a calf.
